Fiery Colors
by Ian Lockwood age 11
(Papua New Guinea)
Like a crown of jewels he sparkles,
Fiery colors, reflecting sunlight.
Bright and fast like fireworks
An aurora in the summer.
His humming is like a melody
Muffled, he hovers in foliage to find flowers,
To sip them and regain precious energy.
Gracefully gliding wings, swiftly race in a figure eight.
He can travel straight and not, in all directions.
So intricate, and fluttering with great accuracy,
The hummingbird zips around in haste,
His size surprising for his many capabilities.
