I wish
by Vedanusha Chakrabarti

When I sat in my little room,
ready to write a poem soon.
I saw a humming bird’s nest,
most beautiful and the best.
It hung on electric bulb line
in my balcony, swinging so fine.
A busy food collector Baba,
Two brown eggs and a Ma.
Mixture of flowers and sticks,
I stood transfixed by it
I was in zest…
And thought it was a jest!
It had,
a door for the bird to enter
and feed the babies in hunger!
The bird all of blue and brown,
flies, tweets forever and now..
the baby has grown
and humming bird had flown
It comes back, I wish
And sings blisshhhh.
