Splash of Color

Hummingbird you are an interesting creature.
When you go to flowers, you dart past.
You arrive and then,
You stick your beak inside at last.
When you suck out all the nectar
If a bug lives in there too
Then you swallow your prey whole
It is what you have to do.
You are a little fellow and your wings
Beat one hundred times a minute.
It uses so much energy,
Your belly needs lots of nectar in it!
I only wish there were more of you.
Red, purple, green and blue -
Like an artist used his brush
And splashed color on my world.
